A calf implant procedure is performed on patients wishing to enlarge their calves, resulting in a more defined and muscular appearance of their legs and calf area. Calf implants can also be used to correct deformities resulting from injury or nerve diseases that result in muscle deterioration, or congenital and physical defects. According to the ASAPS, roughly 1,00 calf augmentation procedures were performed in the US in 2003. Incisions can be placed behind the knee in the crease and these become imperceptible.
